They are so grateful, his kick sent them to the playoffs! Had he missed it, both the Chargers and the Raiders would have made the playoffs and the Steelers would be watching the playoffs from home.
Pittsburgh Steelers‘ fans are doing all they can to thank the man that with one kick, got them into the playoffs. Daniel Carlson, the Las Vegas Raiders’ kicker, had all the pressure on his shoulders Sunday night at the end of the Los Angeles Chargers game. An overtime, game-winning kick gives the Raiders the fifth seed in the NFL playoffs and kicks out their division rival, the Chargers, from the postseason.
However, with the way the seeding worked, if the Raiders won on Sunday night, they would also help the Pittsburgh Steelers make the playoffs as well. A tie between the Raiders and Chargers would result in both teams making the playoffs, no such luck for Pittsburgh.
Jeff had the pleasure of being at the regular season final and this is how it went down at Allegiant Stadium.
As a thank you for making the kick, donations began pouring into the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada but not from anyone in Nevada but from Pittsburgh fans. As of Sunday night, over $1,000 had been sent to the cause and as of Monday night it had reached $2,300 from more than 80 donors.
Why this group? Well it’s the non-profit that Carlson chose for the NFL’s My Cleats My Cause initiative.
“With his game-winning kick on 1/9/2022, Daniel Carlson granted future Hall of Famer Ben ‘7’ Rothlisberger the opportunity to play another down in the playoffs in a dramatic grand finale of a career TY,” one donor wrote.
Carlson, when hearing about the generosity, he quickly tweeted out a thank you.
